My name is Spencer Jensen and I am a double bassist, bow repair specialist, and music educator. I thoroughly enjoy the contrast of work that comes from wearing these different "hats" and find great satisfaction in finding solutions to the various problems bow owners encounter. I began learning bow repair the summer of 2017, studying rehairing with Lynn Hannings at the Violin Craftsmanship Institute hosted at the University of New Hampshire. Following this initial training, I furthered my study and experience working under the mentorship of Jim Greer, a reputable bow repair specialist throughout Western New York. I returned to the Violin Craftsmanship Institute in 2018 to continue my study in bow repair and restoration as well as bow making. Through this time, I have rehaired and repaired many bows from student bows for schools and shops to bows for individual clients.
Through my experience, I am confident I can offer my customers high quality rehairs and repairs. I offer a quality guarantee. If you have an issue with a rehair or repair I recently performed, with normal use of the bow, I will fix it for free. Customers should note that humidity and seasonal change affects the length of the bow hair and isn't under my control. I aim to address this by making the hair longer during winter and shorter during summer. As a performing musician, I have a strong understanding of what players generally desire with their bow work. I will work with you to have your bow in optimal playing condition.
